There are many ways to practice energy conservation in our homes. It is important for cutting our energy costs individually and it is important effort to conserve energy globally. One way is to call your Power Company to set up a home enery audit. Which they tell you how you can better save energy, the other way is to install wind turbine or solar panel which can cost you six thousand to twenty thousand dollar. Or you can made simple changes to help save you hundred of dollar and at the same time help save the planet, these steps are :

1. Set your Air Conditioning unit to 76 degrees F. Keep the air conditioning filter clean, so it will run more efficiently and save on electric bill.

2. Fix and Replace leaky faucets - Even one drip a second is 20 kilowatts a month

3. Paint your home a light color if you live in a warm climate and a dark color if you live in a cold climate.

4. Whenever possible, keep lights off during the day. Consider installing a skylight if more light is needed. Encourage family members to get in the habit of turning off lights when they leave a room (taping small reminder notes to light switches can help).

5. Wash the dishes by your hand instead of the dish washer you save on water and electric

6. In stead of taking a twenty minute shower you can take a Navy shower( You stand in the shower, get yourself wet, shut off the shower, soap up, and then turn the shower back on to rinse)

7. Motion sensors light can save you on your electric bill because it save you the trouble of turn off and one the lights

8. Turn off appliance when not in use

9. Wash clothes in cold water detergent to save on hot water. Wash only full loads of clothes.

10. Replace standard incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs. They are more energy-efficient, last for years instead of months, and generate little heat

11. Buy major appliances that display the "Energy Star" sticker which shows the appliance meets or exceeds standards set by the U.S. Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency.
